Review : Great portable region-free player, but ...
Four stars, as this is my second Sony region-free portable player. First one lasted only 14 months. Excellent playback, but time will tell whether premature mechanical failure of the first unit was a fluke, or is characteristic of the Sony brand portable. As for playback quality of this unit: superb over HD TV. Only visible shortcoming is playback from USB thumb drive. No slide show of jpgs; less than full screen image playback from USB device. Minimal codec playback capabilities. So, one star deduction for reasons given. Four stars for superb a/v quality notiwithstanding shortcomings.
